Sharing feedback during the NAP limited beta

NAP is in limited beta, which means real people are using working tools while the experience is still being improved before wider release. The feedback form is how you tell NAP what worked, what did not, and what would have helped.

It is deliberately short, and needs no account and no email address.

What feedback is for

It is product feedback: a page that confused you, a control that did not do what you expected, a worksheet that printed badly, an idea for something that would make a tool more usable.

  • It is not health research, and nothing you send is studied as data about narcolepsy.
  • It is not a clinical report, and no clinician reads it.
  • It is not support or emergency help. If something is urgent or medical, contact a clinician or your local emergency service.
  • It is not a public testimonial. Nothing you write is published, quoted or shown on the site.

Choosing an area

Every submission is attached to one product area, chosen from a fixed list: Website or navigation, Start Here, Daily NAP Planner, Sleep & Nap Journal, Low-Energy Rescue Plan, NAP Quick Start Pack, NAP Recap, What tends to help?, Accessibility, or Something else.

Accessibility is kept as its own area rather than folded into the others, so accessibility problems are easy to find and are never lost inside general comments about a tool.

Several tools carry a quiet “Share feedback” link at the end of the page. Following that link opens the form with the matching area already selected — it is an ordinary link with a normal query parameter, carrying no identifier and no tracking. You can change the area afterwards.

What the form asks

The fields on the limited-beta feedback form and whether they are required.
FieldRequiredNotes
Product or areaYesChosen from the fixed list above.
Type of feedbackYesSomething worked well, something was confusing, something did not work, a feature idea, accessibility feedback, or other.
What were you trying to do?NoContext, in a sentence or two.
What happened?YesThe one narrative field that must be filled in.
What would have helped?NoYour suggestion, if you have one.
How easy was this to use?NoVery easy, easy, neither, difficult, very difficult, or prefer not to answer.
Your email addressNoOnly kept if you also give explicit permission to be contacted.
Permission to contact youNoAn unticked checkbox. Without it, any address you typed is discarded and never stored.

If you enter an address without ticking the permission box, the form stops and asks you to either tick it or clear the address, so nothing is kept by accident.

What happens to your email address

  • Giving an address is entirely optional; the form works without one.
  • An address is stored only alongside explicit contact permission for that submission.
  • It is used only to follow up on that specific feedback.
  • It does not enrol you in a newsletter, mailing list or any other message.
  • Permission applies to the one submission, not to future contact in general.
  • Giving permission is not a promise of a reply. NAP is small, and most feedback is read and acted on without an answer being sent.

What is not collected

  • No account is attached, even if you happen to be signed in. A submission is never linked to your NAP account.
  • No raw IP address and no browser user-agent is stored with a submission. There is still basic anti-abuse processing: the rate limiter keeps a short-lived HMAC digest separately from your submission, so it cannot be read back as an address.
  • You are never asked for medical records, medication details, a diagnosis, or anything about your health, and you are asked not to include them.
  • No tracking identifiers travel with the contextual feedback links.

Who reads it, and how long it is kept

  • Submissions are readable only by a NAP administrator, through an internal review queue. They are not public and are not visible to other people using NAP.
  • Raw feedback is kept for up to 12 months.
  • An optional contact address is removed within 90 days, or once any follow-up ends — whichever comes first.
  • Cleanup is currently a manual quarterly task until automated retention exists.
  • There is no in-product messaging in this version, so a submission does not open a conversation thread.

When to use the contact form instead

The feedback form is for the product. If you want to reach a person about something else — a question, a correction, a partnership, a press enquiry, or anything you would like an answer to — use the contact page instead. It is a separate route and is handled separately.

What to do next

Privacy and limitations

  • A submission is stored with no raw IP address, no user-agent and no account link; rate-limiting uses a separate HMAC digest for anti-abuse only.
  • An email address is stored only with explicit contact permission, is used only for that submission, and never joins a mailing list.
  • Raw feedback is retained for up to 12 months; contact addresses are removed within 90 days or when follow-up ends, whichever comes first.
  • Only a NAP administrator can read submissions. There is no reply guarantee and no in-product messaging in this version.
  • Please do not include medical records, medication details, or anything you would not want stored.
