How to use the NAP Quick Start Pack

The NAP Quick Start Pack is five short pages so NAP can be used on a bad day without reading anything end to end. It is free, it is in beta, and it asks for nothing: no checkout, no email address and no account.

You can use it in three ways — read and type on screen, download the PDF, or print it and write by hand. All three are fully supported, and none is the correct one.

What the pack is

The pack is an orientation document, not a workbook you are expected to complete. Each page has one job and can be used on its own. If you only ever use one page, the pack has done what it was built to do.

It is planning support. It does not diagnose, measure, assess or treat anything, and it cannot tell you what your narcolepsy is doing.

The downloaded PDF is six pages, not five: a cover and contents page comes first, then the five worksheet pages. Only those five are worksheet pages.

Using it in your browser

  1. Open the Quick Start Pack page.
  2. Read the pages in order, or jump to the one you need.
  3. Type into the writing areas if you want to. Nothing has to be filled in.
  4. Your answers save as you type — there is no Save button and no confirmation step.
  5. Use “Print or save as PDF” to print exactly what is on the screen, including anything you typed.
  6. Use the plain-text download if you want your answers as a simple text file.

Writing by hand is a fully supported way to use this. Nothing needs to be typed on a screen for the pack to work.

Where your typing is kept, and how to delete it

  • Anything you type into the browser version is stored in your browser, on the device you are using.
  • It is never sent to NAP, and no account is involved at any point.
  • Reopening the page on the same device and browser brings your answers back.
  • Opening it in a different browser, a different device, or a private window shows an empty pack.
  • The reset control on the page deletes your answers from that browser completely. It cannot be undone.
  • Clearing your browser's site data also removes them.

On a shared, public or work device, whatever you type stays in that browser profile until it is reset or the site data is cleared. If that matters, use the PDF or print the pack instead of typing into it.

Downloading the PDF

  1. Choose “Download the PDF” on the Quick Start Pack page. It saves to your device like any other file.
  2. Open the saved file and print it at 100% or “fit to page”.
  3. Print single-sided if you want room to write; double-sided is fine too.

The PDF is a plain printable document. It is not an interactively fillable form: there are no form fields to type into, and it is designed to be written on by hand. If you want to type, use the browser version instead.

The PDF is the same static file for everyone, and it contains no personal information.

Paper sizes and printing

The downloadable PDF is laid out for US Letter. Printing it on A4 works: choose “fit to page” or “scale to fit” in your print dialog, and the layout shrinks slightly with wider margins. No content is cut off.

If you print from the browser instead of the PDF, the page offers a paper-size choice so the printed sheet matches the paper in your printer.

Choosing “Save as PDF” in your browser's print dialog is a normal way to keep a copy with your own answers in it. That file is created by your browser and saved wherever you tell it to go — NAP never sees it.

What beta means here

The pack is labelled beta because the wording, layout and page order may still change in response to limited-beta feedback. What is there now is complete and usable — beta is not a warning that pages are missing.

If something reads badly, prints badly or does not make sense, the feedback form has a Quick Start Pack area and is deliberately short.

What to do next

Privacy and limitations

  • The PDF contains no personal information; the browser version keeps your typing in your browser on your device only.
  • The reset control deletes your answers permanently from that browser. There is no copy anywhere else to restore from.
  • Nothing you type is sent to NAP, stored in an account, or reviewed by anyone.
  • The pack is orientation and planning support. It is not a medical document, a test, or a record for a clinician to interpret — though you are welcome to print a copy and take it to your own appointment.
